New Asset Function User Guide

Overview

The “New Asset” function lets you enter a new asset with its general specifications into the system. For example, you could register a laptop model like “HP Victus 15-FB0038” with its specs. Later, when you want to purchase the laptop, you can add the serial numbers for each unit. This tool helps you catalogue all the items or assets you use in the application.

Step-by-step Guide

Follow these steps to add a new asset to the system:

  1. Navigate to the Assets Module main menu.

  2. Click the “New Asset” button.

  3. Type the full name of the Asset, such as “HP Laptop Victus 15-FB0038/ i5/ 8GB/ 250SSD”.

  4. Choose the Category. This categorizes the asset in a broad grouping. For example, “IT” could be a category for all electrical devices, regardless of their type (PC, Laptop, Mobile, TV, etc.). You can add more categories by clicking “Add category” in the same window or in the Assets module main menu.

  5. Choose the Subcategory. This provides a more specific classification for the asset. For example, “Laptop” could be a subcategory. You can add more subcategories by clicking “Add Subcategory” in the same window or in the Assets module main menu.

  6. Write the Model. In our example, the model is “15-FB0038”.

  7. Choose the Brand. In our example, the brand is “HP”.

  8. Choose the Color. In our example, it’s “Black”.

  9. Insert all other relevant remarks and specifications for the asset.

  10. If you wish to add any configurations for this asset (e.g., for a router, you might include the default IP, default username, password, or default wireless password), click “Add configuration”.

  11. Once you’ve finished entering the details, click “Save”. This will make the asset active in the system and allow it to be managed.

With these steps completed, your asset is now recorded in the system, ready for tracking and management as you purchase, assign, and maintain them over time.
